Tessarion, known as the Blue Queen, was a dragon of House Targaryen and the mount of Prince Daeron Targaryen, youngest son of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. Hatched in the early 120s AC, Tessarion was a younger dragon at the time of the Dance of the Dragons, though large enough for sustained flight and combat by the outbreak of the war. She was regarded as one of the more striking dragons of her generation, distinguished by cobalt-blue scales, copper-colored wing membranes, and bright flame.

Under Daeron Targaryen, Tessarion became an active war dragon for the Green faction during the Dance of the Dragons. She played a central role in the southern campaigns, particularly in the Reach, where Daeron and his dragon were instrumental in securing victories and maintaining Green control in the region. Tessarion’s mobility and combat effectiveness made her a key asset in engagements that required both speed and destructive capability.

Tessarion’s most significant actions occurred during the campaigns leading up to and including the battles at Tumbleton. During the First Battle of Tumbleton, her presence contributed to the concentration of dragon power that resulted in one of the most devastating engagements of the war. Though she survived that battle, the instability among the dragonseeds and shifting allegiances in the region set the stage for further conflict.

Her final engagement came during the Second Battle of Tumbleton in 130 AC, one of the largest and most chaotic dragon battles in Targaryen history. Tessarion became involved in a multi-dragon confrontation that included Vermithor and Seasmoke. During the fighting, all three dragons sustained severe injuries. Tessarion was mortally wounded in the engagement and collapsed shortly thereafter. Some accounts suggest she lingered for a time before dying, while others indicate she perished soon after the battle.

Tessarion’s death marked the loss of one of the last effective Green war dragons and contributed to the final collapse of organized dragon warfare during the Dance of the Dragons. Her rider, Daeron Targaryen, also died during the conflict, though the exact circumstances of his death remain uncertain.

Tessarion is remembered as one of the most visually distinctive dragons of the Dance and as a capable war dragon despite her relative youth. Her role in the southern campaigns and the battles at Tumbleton places her among the key dragons of the later stages of the war, and her death reflects the widespread destruction of dragonkind that defined the conflict.
